Bridget Jones's Baby: World Premiere

If anyone who knew me had to summarise my favourite things and the things that describe me it would be: Grey's Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey, Disney, donuts and Irn Bru. That is basically me.

So if you've been living under rock and haven't heard about the new film that comes out September 16th as the third instalment in the Bridget Jones trilogy, I'm going to tell you about it now.

Bridget Jones's Baby features Bridget in the next stage of her life where we see her meet the dreamy American Jack (Patrick Dempsey) as well as re-encountering with her old flame Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). Bridget finds herself pregnant yet doesn't know who the baby daddy is, we see the interaction with all 3 parent-to-bes as well as old characters like Bridget's friends and parents and new characters like Bridget's new coworkers and her very funny gynaecologist.

Since the film started filming last year I not only knew I had to see it I also knew I had to go to the premiere because this is like 2 parts of my life - my love for Patrick and the third instalment of a franchise I grew up watching with my mum because as far as British rom coms go, Bridget Jones is one of the best! My mum really influenced my viewing as a child by forcing me to watch and love any and everything with Colin Firth in and then also Hugh Grant.

Now onto the premiere....

Fellow film student and best friend Danniella came with me down to London the day before the film premiere which gave us some time to walk a walk around the area near our hotel and see the touristy things - Elizabeth Tower (the tower with Big Ben in) London Eye etc. We also went to the ITV studios which on the way to we found a lot with film trailers in, we didn't find out what they were for but it was very interesting.

Fast forward to the Monday Morning (Day of the Premiere) Patrick Dempsey was doing a LIVE interview on Lorraine so we ran down to the ITV studios, Danniella missing her eyebrows and with wet hair and patiently waited for him to leave. There was about 10 or so people there and when he came out everyone obviously shouted him over. Except me. I just didn't have a voice, I was in utter shock, I kinda forgot to breathe. He signed my photo and continued to take photos with other fans. Just like that, I met him and then he continued on, and I literally didn't say anything. Thank god for Danniella taking photos for me for me. And I will say this. He is more dreamy in person.

I am very thankful we went to this as I was talking to someone else who was going to the Premiere who explained that we had to go and get wristbands from the cinema, so we went and did this. The wristbands allowed us to be in the pens and closer to the stars and the higher the number the more choice of standing you had.

We arrived at Leicester Square and waited for our number to be called, during this we talked to some other people asking about the best place to stand - we had the option to go next to/opposite the cinema entrance doors or next to a hotel at the side where the cars would pull up; we chose the next to the hotel and I'm so pleased we did as lots of the actors didn't go to the pen near the doors as they had to go inside. We patiently waited for things to start, it was interesting watching them set up, laying down the pink carpet, watching the paparazzi and press set up their cameras and other press start filming and conducting interviews - I was interviewed live by Yahoo UK & Ireland on Facebook who asked me why I was there for which I replied with Patrick Dempsey and when they asked why to that, I exclaimed "Have you seen him?!"

The first person to arrive was director Sharon Maguire, it was amazing to meet her as she is such an inspiration to female film students and directors (I told her this) she gives us the hope and inspiration to think that one day we could be as successful as her working with the talents she has.

We managed to meet quite a lot of the cast and other people, such as Una from The Saturday's, and see Olympic diver Tom Daley. But to be honest, the best person to meet was Renee Zellweger, she looked absolutely stunning and gorgeous as well as being incredibly friendly, saying I was a good armrest, I replied with it's because I'm so short. She must have spent so long visiting as many fans as possible in all of the pens signing autographs and taking photos, we were amazed at how much time she spent with her fans. Meeting Patrick at the Premiere was very similar to the morning, I couldn't really speak and I got his autograph again, but he looked very handsome in his suit and his entire family were goals! Colin Firth was looking exceptionally well, especially in his glasses, I got his autograph as well as photos of him which I did apologise to him for because of how unflattering the angle was at times. Emma Thompson was absolutely hilarious, meeting all the fans and taking photos she was constantly running back and forth trying not to miss people.

Overall the day was absolutely amazing! To have met the people I did only makes me want to enter the industry sooner and start working. It also gave me some ideas for our premiere next year which will showcase our final work and the first year's short films! I thoroughly recommend going to a Premiere not only for the people you take photos of but for the memories of actually meeting them and talking to them that will stay with you for life (or until you meet them when you work with them and have a better conversation).
