1st Year Fun!

So, first year is over and one member of our class isn't staying on (dabs tears away) but we have had so much fun and learnt so much this year. I have grown so much as a person and a filmmaker and I'm very proud of who I am. I have a slightly more clear idea of what I want to do after college (I currently have 7 university prospectuses sat next to me on my desk and have more coming in the post) but there is still one thing I haven't decided on - TV or Film? and maybe 2nd year will help make that decision or maybe university will or maybe there isn't a decision to make and I will do both in my life. College has been an amazing experience, not only learning about filming, the importance paperwork or how frustrating editing can be but it has allowed me to get to know and make friends with some of the best people and future award winners (not trying to get too soppy).

First year has been the year where you first learn about yourself as a filmmaker and your natural ability, skills and interests. I have learnt I really like production management and co-ordination, I like paperwork what can I say. But I also learnt I like scriptwriting (maybe not enough to go into solely doing that but enough to want to do it for future projects) I've learnt that editing is not my favourite thing but I can do it. Directing is something that surprised me with how much I enjoyed it, I've come out of my shell this year and directing helped that, I would consider directing in the future. Camera operating,  sound recordist/boom operator, and cinematography are things I do not want to do in the future.

I said editing is not my strong suit so the only way to become stronger at something is to practice, so I did. Earlier in the college year, on Back to The Future Day we as a class made a video to The Power of Love, my first edit was not amazing, I was still learning to use the editing software and the acting of those involved clearly shows we prefer to be behind the camera rather than in front of it so.... I re edited the video but included other bits of video and photos from through the year, this included a range of things including small class work that was not linked to our assignment work.

I edited this video at home, it allowed to advance my skills but made me realise I relied on others in my class for when I set up a video as I didn't set it up correctly, which can be seen in the video so sorry not sorry because I'm only a student and I'm still learning. Also, I apologise in advance for seeing me in the video, I can be seen with a couple different hair colours and styles (like I said, I changed lots this year)
