Rhys and Adam
The first shoot of the day was the History of Oscars presented by Adam and Rhys. Starting at 10am we set up the set, cameras and lighting while Adam and Rhys had basic makeup done. It took quite a long time to film the piece due to the pair not knowing their lines or being able to improv what they wanted to say. We tried to break filming into chunks and tried using a prompter however both were not easy fixes. Eventually we filmed their piece and moved onto the next video. We finished filming after 12 then changed the set ready to start filming around 1pm.
For this shoot I was a camera operator, I set up the shot for Rhys' close up and made sure he stayed in shot for the duration of filming.
Danniella and Matthew
The second shoot of the day was Danniella and Matthew's fashion talk show. We set up the set and ran through the show, because this was a talk show there were fewer takes and as the pair would just talk through the dresses and suits. This shoot went really well as the pair were prepared and knew roughly what they wanted to say, there were few problems or need for numerous takes.
For this shoot I was the director and a camera operator, I was in charge of making sure the presenters were ready to film, that all cameras started recording, I would then count down from 5 then use the clapper board so that they could easily sync the sound in post, I was also responsible for yelling cut. As a director I had to make sure what was happening in the scene was appropriate and good enough to be used in the video. As a camera operator I was on the master shot, for this I had to make sure that the framing was accurate, I let Danniella set up the shot as she knew what she wanted.
Chloe
The final shooting we did of the day was Chloe's presentation of iconic Oscars moments. We started just after 3pm finishing just before 4pm. This was a fairly straight forward shoot, the set was minimal with only chairs and Oscar statue but this did cause problems with shadows.
On this shoot I was the director and camera operator.
