As a group we created an audience profile to include in the report, we split off sections so we all looked at a different thing; I looked at socioeconomics.
Socio-economics is an important factor in audience profiling and is based on looking at the social class and financial income of a person and how the media producers of each campaign appeals and targets them. Traditionally ABC1 audiences are more likely to vote for the Republican party because of their members being stereotypically rich white people and their views and opinions reflecting an old America with the founding traditions; people with money are more likely to vote for people with money as they believe they (and their money) will be better looked after and have a better chance. Whereas the Democrat party appeals to C2DE with their modern views and how they change as the world changes. The classifications categories separate those with degrees and more money from those without qualifications or are unemployed and the parties target this with their policies and promises if they become president. However in this election the Republican party spent more time, money and resources in appealing to the lower classes to try and improve and increase their votes and range of voters; they know they will get the votes from the higher wealthier classes therefore can use more time campaigning to attract the lower classes and emphasising what they will be doing for the country that will directly affect them.
