Music Video Post Production

Today I finished my music video - I can't believe my first full assignment is complete. From complete pre-production and research all the way through to post I have been a part of this and I can finally say I produced a piece of work.

Overall, after editing the shots together and only repeating very few, I am very proud of the work I have completed. If I were to pick one thing I am very happy with it would be the fight scene on the pier - I am very happy with how I edited the different angles together and made it look fluent. I also really like some of the shots themselves as they have made editing easier and really help tell the narrative of the song - this is down to the director and director of photography so I thank them for their artistic and creative view and shots they provided me with. One thing I would have liked to have changed would be a couple more shots of Brandon being caught and taken into custody and into the interrogation room. This would have allowed me to not have to repeat shots and be able to fully tell the narrative.

When I was sure I was pleased and confident with my final sequence I exported it as a QuickTime movie - this allows me to play the video on numerous platforms and burn it to disc.

To burn the video to disc I used a blank DVD-R, then copied the video onto the disc the burned it. I had to do this twice - one for my Music Video assignment and one for my pure editing assignment - and because it's me, it worked the first time but I had trouble burning the second disc (I wasted an extra 2 disc trying to burn my video).

In conclusion, I am very happy with this entire project and the final outcome. I have learnt lots about what I may do in the future - I don't think DoP or directing will be my forte but I thoroughly enjoyed being the Project Manager. In addition, editing is still not my favourite thing but I hope I am getting better, one thing I have not done is play with and use effects in my work - this may be something I look into in the future.
