Monday 2nd November
Today, we started the bulk of the paperwork, we divided up the tasks so that we could get as much done as possible. Since I am in charge of the organisation of it all, I took on the task to ensure that the folder was kept up to date, the downfall with this was that I ended up doing a lot of the work myself. Myself and Matty did all of the location based paperwork and we started the casting process, we produced the starting mood boards for location and costumes, however these are subject to change. We found it very difficult to do much more paperwork as we did not have a cast or a storyboard or shit list.
Wednesday 4th November
Since our music video will now overlap with editing we were given some time today to continue with the planning paperwork, we decided to change the location to Saltburn as this would give us more time at the location as it is closer. We managed to finalise the casting allowing us to start the next paperwork and details surrounding timings and scenes. Because of this I changed all the paperwork to reflect what will happen in Saltburn, keeping the mood board as this shows Taylor's original idea.
Thursday 5th November
After feeling stressed for most of the session, I am happy to say that all the paperwork was completed today and we are ready for shooting on Monday. I finished off the paperwork, asking Taylor and Matty as director and DoP to complete the shot list, they'd started on Monday, and the storyboard - Taylor took the storyboard home to do at the weekend. I completed the call sheet, shoot schedule, final cast information, costume requirements (with Ben), design breakdown then with the addition of another scene which was decided upon by Taylor and Matty while they did the shot list I revised the risk assessment, adding the new risk - filming on the cliff. Because of this I then had to go back and change some of the paperwork.
During this assignment I have learnt lots, most importantly knowing the full run through of the video such as the shot list and storyboard helps massively on the completing of other paperwork. I have also learnt that when working within a team you have to accept that not everyone has the same attention to detail as yourself. In addition, I have learnt that the director may have a clear view in their mind of what they are wanting to shoot but if they are unable to clearly communicate in a structured way it is very difficult for their production team to effectively plan all the necessary components for the shoot. I learnt how frustrated I can get when people don't communicate or plan effectively as I feel I can not contribute ideas and resolutions as successfully as I could.
I have very much enjoyed this assignment, especially my specific role as I like organisation; I hope our finished music video shows this.
