My pitch:
Riding on my Bike by McBusted is the chosen song for the music
video. McBusted are a pop rock band that were originally separate artists –
McFly and Busted but merged together to create a super-group. This merged both of their audience types;
they were both of the same genre but the songs each group released attracted a
different audience. McFly had more love songs and attracted more of a female
audience whereas Busted had more random rock songs that very much showed their
male personalities. The band and music video have an inherited audience from
the previous bands that are of an older generation to its present primary audience,
teens and young adults – predominantly female in both cases, the music video is
not specifically targeted at women due to the song and content but represent
the band.
The video will be slightly
narrative as the video will tell the story that the lyrics are telling. Lyric
interpretation will be very strong; with the certain lyrics being acted out in
the way they were meant to or in an opposite way to add comedy. Chroma key will
be the most important technique used as the majority of the music video filmed
in front of the green screen, a range of different locations will be used which
will also help to contribute to the comedy. Also, the use of multi-mage will
feature, with the girl in question being seen a couple of times throughout the video
in a split screen with the rider – the screen will be in quarters with ¼ being
the girl and ¾ being the bike rider. This will also show a couple of other
cameo roles that feature, these will mostly only be used to add more comedy.
The music video will feature a
young man riding his bike, like the lyrics state, he will copy some of the
actions stated in the lyrics but they will be over the top of changed for
comedic affect; green screen will help add comedy by showing different
locations that he is riding through – some that are very random or not
practicable, such as him riding through the streets of New York City. There
will be a play on words at some points – “ripped up stockings” will actual show
the girl with Christmas stocking. I am trying to make comical video that shows
that this is all a dream and in his head, so then anything that focuses on
other people or girl will show a realistic or other explanation. At the end of
the video the camera will zoom out at the same time as the green screen changed
to a gym then fades into actual footage of him being on an exercise bike in a
gym, singing along to his headphones with the extras in the gym looking at him
with odd expressions. When the chorus
occurs the green screen will show the band playing, this is in order to
maintain their image and performance style that occurs in their previous
videos. The band always show ‘as-live’ footage therefore this needs to be
included in this video. This may not last the entire chorus but be used as
cutaways so that locations can still be used. Props of cars and vans on cardboard
from a front view will be used in the chorus linking to the lyrics.
